Training With Injuries and Chronic Pain in Calgary

Old injuries, stiffness and nagging pain stop a lot of people from training. At NATEFIT in southeast Calgary, Professional Kinesiologist Nathaniel Ernst builds exercise programs around your injury history, so you can rebuild strength and get back to moving well. Coaches Cliff Krauss and Janine Bombenon both hold Pain-Free Performance certifications.

Kinesiologist or physiotherapist?

A physiotherapist assesses and treats injuries. A kinesiologist does not diagnose; he uses exercise to rebuild strength and movement. Many people work with us once physio has finished, or alongside it. If your pain is new, getting worse or severe, see a doctor or physiotherapist first. Learn more about working with a kinesiologist.

How it works

  1. Consultation. We go through your health and injury history, look at how you move and set clear goals.
  2. A program built for you. Exercises are chosen and adjusted for your injury, so you train what you can while you rebuild what you cannot yet.
  3. Coached sessions. Your coach watches every rep and adjusts as you go.
  4. Progress. We track your strength and movement and update your plan as you improve.

Common reasons clients come to us

  • Old sports injuries that still limit training
  • Back, hip, knee or shoulder pain during exercise
  • Stiffness and limited mobility
  • Returning to training after physiotherapy
  • Health conditions that make a generic program a poor fit
