Personal Training for Seniors in Calgary

NATEFIT offers one-on-one and small-group personal training for seniors and older adults at 4114 8 St SE, our studio in southeast Calgary. Programs are led by Professional Kinesiologist Nathaniel Ernst and coach Janine Bombenon, who holds a Functional Aging Institute certification, so your training is built around your joints, your health history and your goals.

Why strength training matters as you age

Muscle and balance help you stay independent: carrying groceries, getting up from a chair, climbing stairs and staying steady on your feet. Regular strength training helps you keep the muscle you have and build more, at any age. It also supports bone health, energy and confidence.

You don’t need any experience to start, even if you have never lifted weights or it has been years since you last exercised. Your first visit is a 90-minute consultation where we talk through your goals and health history, look at how you move and take a Styku 3D body scan. From there your coach builds a program at your level and adjusts it as you get stronger. You can train one-on-one or in a small group of up to 5 people, and every session is coached.

What your sessions look like

  1. Consultation. We talk through your goals, health history and any injuries or conditions, look at how you move, and take a Styku 3D body scan.
  2. Your program. Your coach builds a plan that starts where you are, with exercises chosen for your joints and your goals.
  3. Coached sessions. Every session is coached, so you learn to move safely and build up gradually.
  4. Progress checks. We track your strength and rescan to show what is changing.

Training around health conditions

Our Professional Kinesiologist can build exercise programs for people living with old injuries, stiffness, back pain or health conditions. A kinesiologist does not diagnose, so if pain is new or severe, see your doctor or physiotherapist first. We are happy to work alongside them.

Health benefits

Some extended health plans cover sessions with a Professional Kinesiologist. Coverage depends on your provider, so check your plan before you book. No doctor’s referral is needed.

Price

One-on-one sessions are $100 to $120 (plus GST), depending on your coach and how often you train. Semi-private training in a group of up to 5 is $40 per session (plus GST). New clients start with a 90-minute consultation ($125 plus GST) that includes a Styku 3D body scan.
